AIRMAN AND BABOONS.
While on * Jong reconnaissance flight in East Africa, a British Air Force pilot who made a forced landing began to walk towards his lines at nightfall, no assistance having arrived. He got wet through a"d hung his clothes on a tree to dry while he slept. He was awakened by the chattering of a number of baboons, which, carrying his clothes and springing from branch to branch, were soon out of range of his revolver. When he arrived to report the loss of his machine to his commanding officer he was wearing nothing but top-hoots and an undervest. When the armistice was signed the R.A.E. had a squadron of about 12 machines operating in Persia, including a number of two-seater reronnaisatico biplanes which made flights of 350 miles or more over the desert. During one flight a wild pig was chased and was shot by the'observer's Lewis gun. The aeroplane alighted and tho quarry was rctrievod and carried, home to the mass.
BESOTTED BY AEROPLANE, i A Canadian farmer, who met with a serious accident while working on a remoto section of his farm, has a strange tale to tell of his rescue. Ho had lain for hours, calling in vain for aid and unable to rise or crawl from the scene. While ho lay prostrate, waving an arm, Imping to attract attention of someone., an aeroplane flew near and the, observers were attracted by tho helpless fanner calling and waving fur aid- The aviators circled overhead, but, owing to the rolling country, there was no landing place available, and they were forced to proceed to the nearest township. From there, however, relief was despatched, and the disabled man removed to a hospital.
