DEATH OF OLD COLONIST.
MR. FREDERICK R. BUST, SIXTY YEARS IN NEW ZEALAND. Mr. Frederick Robert Bust, who died at his residence, Pitt Street, EllershV, at the age of 73, was among the ear!;,' [arrivals on the Otago goldfields, bavin come from his native town of Hull, En;;. land, to New Zealand at the age of 15. He came to Auckland in 1858, but remained for about a year only. He re turned to Auckland in 1889, and was serretary of the Trado and Labour Councl during the Maritime *trik"e of 1890. Mr, Bust carried on the business of a butcht-r in various part« of New Zealand. Fr? about seven years ho was a warder j!j the Hokitika prison, but for tho pub seven years he had been employed as a weighbridge master by the City Council, He wag a member of the EL'erslie Tovr-| Board for two years, and took a pi*» minent part in the formation of Hi Ellersh'e Brass Band. > Mr. Bust $«•? considerable service in the Militia *8 Taoranga, for which he was awarded tb Maori war medal. He was afterwards i member of the Whangarei Rifle Volunteers and the Auckland City Guard:, The deceased was an enthusiastic uieirber of the Masonic Order. Mr. Bu.i is survived by three sons and fri daughters, and there are 37 cranr. children and eight great erstnd-childr«i. i The deceased was interred at Ptuwa i cemetery.
