Brigandago in the streets of Petrograd is general. Parties consisting of 15 or SO led Guards each go about at nsght terrorising the population and pillaging private bouses and public buildings. Lenin, in a speech in Moscow, said: " The only thing to do is to shoot several hundreds of our own officials in Petrograd and Moscow in one day. Otherwise our own fate will be sealed."
Lenin also stated that the production of Soviet bank notes exceeded £500,000,000 a month.
Among the hostages whom the Bolsheviks recently killed were-Gen-erals Ruziky and Dimitrieff. They, with 100 others, were shot down •with machine-guns. Those still alive ~ere hacked to pieces with swords. The peasants refuse to pay all taxes, resisting the collection by force of arms.
