PROMINENT BOAT-BUILDER.
Mr. Robert Logan, sen., of Devonport, " '. who for many years was intimately assb* : ciated with the local ship and boat-build-v. ing industry, died on Monday, at .lYs'fage of 83. Mr. Logan, who was a natK-« v of Scotland, arrived in the Dominion i-i ■', 1874, and shortly afterwards commence!; - yacht building at Devonport, where he had been engaged ever since. Among .. tba < yachts built by him were the Jessie Logan, Arawa, Waitangi, and the Akarana, which; won the St. Kiida Yacht Club's medal,ia the 7-ratere at the Centennial Regatta,' < held at Melbourne about 30 years ago. ' Other vessels of his building wero successful at Sydney and Southern regattas. Fron Mr. Logan's yards cam* also the Northen .". Steamship Company's coastal vessels Tanswha, Waimarie Kawau, Kapanui, Kotit'i. ,;; and'-Tatoan, and the Welmgton Ferrer •,: Company's steamer Countess.
