INSULATED TONNAGE.
SHIPS FOR NEW ZEALAND.
PROSPECTS FOR FUTURE.
I [BY TELEGRATH—PRESS ASSOCIATION'.I I WELLINGTON. Monday. The following circular has been forwarded by the Overseas Ship-owners' Committee to all freezing companies in New Zealand:— " Owing to delays in the United Kingdom, insulated steamers are coming forward later than was expected, and it is considered advisable to acquaint freezing companies with the position as it at present appears. After the recent allotment ,of February and early March steamers, j the following steamers represent the [ earliest measure of relief. They will be available for homeward loading as stated: Port Melbourne, middle of March; Hororata, late March; Ajana, first half of April; Athenic, first half of April; Rimntaka, second half of April. No advice has yet been received of the sailing of the following steamers, which have been listed for homeward loading from New Zealand:— Corinthic, Armagh, Raranga, Kaikoura, lonic, Tainui. It is probable that the majority will not be available for homeward loading before the end of : April or during May. Deductions from , insulated space will of course hare to be | made for the necessary quantity of dairy | produce required by the Imperial authori- ! ties- Efforts are being made by this com- ' mittee to secure additional tonnage for j New Zealand, but the reply to hand indiI cated that the allotment of the tonnage had been made in conjunction with the Board of Trade, the Ministry of Shipping and the Food Controller, and could not be increased.
