TRAM FARES TO ONEHUNGA.
CONSIDERATION BY COUNCIL.
The matter of tramway fares was referred to at the meeting of the Onehunga Borough Council last evening.
Mr. Ainsworth asked if any information wero available as to the proposal to raise the fares.
Tho Mayor (Mr. J. Stoupe) said he had no information.
Mr. 11. ,1. Davies said he had had a conversation with Mr. J. H. Gunson on the matter and pointed out that by the deed of delegation tho Onehunga Borough Council had control of the trams from the Royal Oak to the wharf, and therefore the city could not alter the fares in tho borough.
On the motion of Mr. Ainsworth, who considered the interests of tho workers with regard to their weekly tickets should be conserved by the council, it was decided to consider the question in committee.
