THE CLOSURE OF SHOPS-

Among the resolutions passed at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Employers' Federation in Wellington was the fo'lowing:— the Legislature Act, 1908, bo amended so as to provide that the closing of shops shall he necessary only on the afternoon of a general election, and that on the day of any by-election the provisions of the above-named section providing for reasonable opportunity being given to employees in factories to record their votes be made applicable to shop assistants."
