INTER-ALLIED MEETING.

NEW ZEALAND WINS CUP. A sport* meeting open to Colonial, British, and Allied troops was held at Glasgow recently, before an attendance of over 20,000. A Challenge Shield, presented by Sir William Beardmore, to bo held by tho country scoring most points in the 100 yards, 220 yards, quarter-mile, half-mile, one mile, hurdles, high jump, long jump, and relay race, was pained by New Zealand, for whom Sergt. J. L. Mason did splendid service by winning tho half-mile in the good time in tho day of 2min. 3sec-. and the mile in 4min. 39scc. It was expected that the final of tho 100 yards would go to another New Zealander, in Private W. J. Lindsay, who had. shown much the host running in the preliminary heats, but he was not placed, Lieut. W. R. Dickens, of the Scottish Command, getting the verdict in an intensely exciting finish. Lindsay, however, won the final of the 220 yards in easy fashion. Sorgt. J. L. Mason, New Zealand. in the one mile relay, only gained thir,d place, being completely exhausted by his previous exertions in the mile which he won. Teams representing England. Scotland, Ireland, Belgium, Scandinavia, Australia, Canada, the Royal Artillery, and the Royal Navy took part in a tug-of-war, which was won easily for Scotland by Glasgow.
