PLEA FOR MORE ACTIVITY.

The need for - scientific research is Stressed by the council of the New Zealand Employers' Federation in its annual report. The report states, inter alia : — ' It is quit? evident that if the competition of foreign countries is to be successfully combated it is necessary that the fullest and most expert inquiry must be nude with regard to both the scientific and Industrial sides of the Dominion's industrial activities. While it is true that New Zealand is mainly dependent uwii its primary products, swondary industries have been established, and there is no reason why, with the real co-operation of Capital and, Labour and the knowledge of how best to employ all available forces, that these should also prove of much greater value to the Dominion in the future than they have (ions in the past."
