GRANTS TO MEN AT ROTORUA,
A meetincr of the Rotorua Invalid Sol-1 diers' Benefit Association was held on 1 Tuesday, Mr. W. Hill (chairman) stated ■ that an arrangement had been made with the Joint Committee of the Order of St. | John and the lied Cross Society at Auck-' land to pay half the cost of supplying cigarettes and tobacco to the soldiers in hospitals, the Invalid Soldiers' Bene'it Association payin; the other half. Under this arrangement the latter association iiad
paid £120 18s since August 28, the total expenditure on cigarettes and tobacco during that period being £241 16s. The Auckland Patriotic Association had sent d
barber's outfit and chair complete, which had been installed at the Sanatorium for
use in the shaving of disabled men. A draft letter to the Patriotic Societies' Advisory Board, requesting the board to bring the claims of the association before the various patriotic societies ( with a view to obtaining grants from their funds, was approved.
