OBITUARY.

MR. A. H. HIXDMARSH, M.P. [BY TELEGRAPH.— ASSOCIATION.] ' WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The death occurred this ironing of Mr. A. H. Hindma'rsh, M.P. for Wellington South. Death was due to pneumonia supervening on influenza. MISS E. C. FIRTH. Miss Evelyn Clifton Firth, daughter of the late Mr. J. 0. Firth, died at Devonport yesterday. Miss Firth, who possessed unusual talents for organisation, was responsible for the formation of the Epsom Division of the St. John Ambulance, and for the establishment of the Epsom Convalescent Home for soldiers, which has been staffed entirely by members of the division. In her capacity of superintendent, she won the highest regard of the soldiers who came under her care. With them, as with her staff, she was most popular, and was beloved for her cheerful spirit and devoted work. Miss Firth was also a prominent worker for the Red Cross Society. When influenza broke out at Narrow Neck camp recently, Miss Firth immediately offered her services, and while helping to nurse the native soldiers, contracted the complaint, from complications of which she died, --he pave her life In the servico of humanity, and she will be remembered as a true heroine.

MR. E. MACCORMICK. Mr. Evan MacCormick, of the firm of Messrs. Alison, Alison, and MacCormick, solicitors, died yesterday of pneumonia at his residence, St. Martin's Lane, Symonds Street. He was the youngest son of the late Mr. J. C. •MacCormick, and was 36 years of age. He was educated in Auckland. Mr. MacCormick was a well-known amateur vocalist, and representative footballer and cricketer. He was a brother of Mr. C. E. MacCormick, Judge of the Native Land Court. MR. WILLIAM S. DONALD. Mr. William S. Donald, who died this week at his residence, Richmond Hill, Grey Lynn, at the age of 39 years, was a member of the Grey Lyrai Council when that borough amalgamated with the Auckland City Council. He was a member of the latter body for some time.

MB. S. M. MOORE-JONES. Mr. Sidney M. Moore-Jones died yesterday, at the age of 41 years. Deceased, who was the younger son of Mr. and Mrs. Moore-Jones, of Remuera, waj a member of the firm of Messrs. Moore- Bros., land agents and stockbrokers. For some yearn he was a member of the Remuera Road Board, and after that district joined the city he was elected a member of the Auckland City Council. He was also a vice-president of the Auckland divisional executive of the Protestant Political Association.

ME. CHARLES 0. F. LAURIE. Mr. Charles 0. F. Laurie, the wellknown biscuit and confectionery manufacturer, died at his residence, Ayr Street, Parnell, on Taesday night. He was 52 years of age. The cause of death was pneumonia supervening upon influenia. The deceased was born in Auckland. For 12 years he was a member of the Newmarket Borough Council, and at the time of his death was the president of the Auckland centre of the Dominion Bowling Association. He was prominent in the establishment of the Carlton Bowling Club. Mr. Laurie was twice married, and he leaves a widow, two sons and four daughters. His eldest son is a returned soldier, and is at present seriously ill with influenza. MR. A. W. RUTHERFORD [BV TELEGRAM. —rRESS ASSOCIATION ] CHRISTCHUKCH. Wednesday. Mr. Andrew William Rutherford died to-day at '.he age of 78. Deceased was a well known North Canterbury runholder, and ex-member of Parliament.
