PATRIOTIC SPORTS MEETING.
POINT CHEVALIER GATHERING.
A sports meeting under the auspices of the Point Chevalier branch of the Women's Patriotic League was held. at Point Chevalier on Saturday afternoon. The meeting was organised by the supporters of Miss M.. Campton, one- of the candidates in the Point Chevalier Floral Queen competition, the proceeds of which arc to be devoted to various patriotic purposes in the city. The programme, which was arranged by ladies, comprised a large number of events for trotting horses, hunters, and hacks, as well.as numerous competi'.ions similar to show ring events. The Pakuranga Hunt Club was well reyroseritcd at (fie gathering, a large number of both lady and gentlemen members being present. At the conclusion of the meeting Mrs. J; H. Gunson, president of the Women's Patriotic League, presented the prizes to the successful competitors. The floral queen competition, which opened in April last, has resulted in £251 5s beinff placed to the credit of the seven contesting queens to date.
