Mr. J. D. Ritchie, chairman of the l.'.lid Purchase Board, who is on a brief \isit to Auckland, will leave this morning for Te Awamutu.
Mr. E. M. Litchfield, of Wellington, Mr. R. E. McDougall, of Christchurch, and Mr. W. J. S. Havward, of Wellington are at the Grand Hotel.
Mr. Kenneth Mackenzie, F.R-C-.5., who has been on active service with the New Zealand Medical Corps for the last 18 months, returned to Auckland by the Niagara, on Saturday.
Captain J. Ferguson, formerly navigating lieutenant of H.M.S. Avenger, and captain of the steamer Waitemata when sho was torpedoed, left ' for Vancouver as a passenger on the Makura, yesterday.
Mr. Harold Beauchamp, chairman of the Bank of New Zealand, arrived in Auckland on Saturday morning for the purpose of meeting his daughter, Mrs. J. M. Bell, and her two children, who returned to New Zealand by the Niagara. Mrs. Bell is the wife of Major J. Mackintosh Bell, who is attached to the Imperial forces', and is now engaged on a special service in Russia. Major Bell was director of the New Zealand Geological Survey for some years, and prior to the war was engaged in mining work ill Canada. Mr. Beau, champ, who is staying at the Northern Club, will return to Wellington with MrsBell this evening.
