Saturday, being a fine day, found a large crowd astir, and the congestion in the cars was almost unparalleled. The difficulties were made more acute by the absence of a number of men, owing to sickness due to the influenza epidemic now rife in the city. An official of the City Council Tramways Department says that if the council were not bound so firmly by the award, but were allowed to have a 48-hour week before overtime counted, he ' believes the council; would -v be prepared .to Z pay ,Is >fid an hour.; By this means the. exigencies of rush hours would be overcome, //
