To prepare labels used for the carded or other purposes the following plan is to be highly recommended as certain to preserve the wood. The first step is to soak the pieces of wood for a whole day in a solution of copperas (sulphate of iron). After this, put the wood at one side to dry. Then place in lime water for 24 hours.
