-AEROPLANE DESTROYED
SOUTHERN MACHINE BURNED.
MISHAP AT SOCKBURN.

CHBISTCHURCH, Friday. One of the Canterbury Aviation Company's aeroplanes was destroyed by fire at, Sockbuni Aerodrome yesterday. A pupil, who had gone through his training well, and was ready to undergo the. test for his ticket, was about to make a flight. His took oft* a little too suddenly, and the noso of tho machine bumped the ground. The jar which the machine suffered caused the petrol pipe to burst, and tho escaping petrol was ignited by a spark from the er.gine'. The flames spread quickly to the nacelle, but members of the company's staff managed .to save tho engine. The pupil escaped unharmed.
