"COPPER TRAIL" CONTEST.
AUCKLAND NEARINQ THE GOAL.
Hood progress was made by Auckland during the week in the , Red Cross " Copper Trail " contest against Wellington, another 53 miles being added to the southbound trail, which is now at Otaki, 380 miles from Auckland, and 46 miles from Wellington. The week's contributions total £12.068. The Wellington " trail " advanced a further five miles last week, and has now reached Silverhope, 128 miles North.
The amounts received at the Auckland Red Cross office since last announcement include £5000 on account from Whakatane, £5000 on account from Te Kuiti, £600 on account from Taumarunui, and £1940 in city donations. The 'total amount raised by the efforts in the provincial district since the present campaign began, on June 4, is £83,912.
