BITTER FIGHTING ON AISNE A. and N.Z.-Reuter. ; LONDON, 'Aug. 21. A German official wireless message states':— French attempted to break through between the Oise and the Aisne. Tho first assault broke down in our battle positions after a bitter struggle. We repulsed attacks north of ' Vioux Borqutn. We withdrew east of Merville, which the enemy occupied. We repulsed , attacks south-west of Chaulnes and north-west of Roye, and also : repulsed French attacks after bitter fighting between BeuvraigneV and the Oise, and also between Carlepont and Nouvron-Vigre. ..
