IMS Under treatment or on sick leave 2,868 Total returned '--2,777 ' The Minister also referred to the cdministration of the Discharged Soldiers' :>M Information Department. He said that ,$M of tho men discharged 2963 had been rjtM found employment. The cases of 3192 were under consideration and 3103 were not ready to be dealt with. Notifications had been received from 11,490 men to tho rJsj effect that they did not require assistance fM in re-establishing themselves in civil life. In addition, the Government was ensuring that men temporarily incapacitated were *j|| receiving a living wage. This was being .j® done by subsidising their wages and by l ;g|! giving financial assistance to those who were learning new trades at technical . schools and other institutions. At present VjM 66 men who were attending classes were receiving a weekly allowance of £1, Seventy-one who nad concluded their training had been found employment. Free training on the State farms had been ||| given to 14 men, of whom six had completed the course and had left the farm. The Department had approved of 54 men receiving an allowance to subsidise the wages they were receiving, and 56 similar applications wero under consideration. ,ji|| j Financial assistance had been given to two I men who were completing their apprenI ticeship, and four applications were re- | ceiving attention.
