LONDON. Aug. 10.
Montdidier has been captured by the Allies. Von Hutier's array
is retreating from the Montdidier-Noyon line. French patrols have 1 entered Chaulnes, the important railway junction, 15 miles east of the Avre. Eleven German divisions have been smashed in the present, battle. '
The Pall Mall Gazette states that the Picardy battle is spreading north to Arras. The allied captures of guns total 400. A German divisional headquarters staff has been captured.
