SERIES OF ACCIDENTS.
TRAM FIREMAN INJURED-
HEAD STRIKES VERANDAH POST.
Severe injuries were sustained by Mr. Albert Goonan, a fireman on the Takapuna tram engine yesterday morning through his head coming in violent contact with a verandah post on Hurstmere Road, near the Strand. He was pulled out of the engine and fell under the or. The driver, Mr. R. Fisher, promptly applied the brake, pulling up the car within its own length.
Goonan was found to be jammed under the brake-rod, having been pushed ahead of the wheels. On being extricated he was found to have received two separate blows on the head, one from the collision with (he post and the other from his fall on the kerb. He was. conveyed to the hospital, where his condition is considered serious.
