SCHOONER LOSES RUDDER.

SHELTERING AT KAIKOURA.

CHEISTCHURCH. Friday. The auxiliary schooner May How AM, three weeks out from Wellington, bound for Dunedin, has put in for shelter at Kaikoura. In the recent heavy weather she lost hor rudder, and a jury rudder was rigged. This was also carried away, 'the vessel is leaking rather badly, and may return to Wellington to obtain a new rudder and V effect repairs. Captain Mumby, the master, states that the ship had a. very rough experience, and is unfit, apart from the loss of her rudder, to proceed south. Another vessel, the auxiliary schooner Gisborne, is sheltering under Amuri Bluff. The weather is still bad, and a heavy sea is running.
