OBSTRUCTING WHARF GUARD
TWO SEAFARING MEN FINED. The alleged obstruction of members of the military, guard at the Queen's Wharf re-
■ sulted in the appearance of two men before Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., in the Police Court on Saturday. > Robert Strachan, a sailor, pleaded guilty to obstructing Lance-Corporal Hough. Evidence was given to the effect that Lance-Ccrporal Hough was at the wharf gate when defendant, who had a ', pass, tried to "pass in" another man as , well 'When the soldier objected, defendant threatened him, and other members of the guard were called, and defendant was arrested. As a result of defendant's argument wilh the"sentry other workmen passed- out without .tlxeir passes being checked. The magistrate said it was a serious offence to interfere with the guard, aid imposed a fine of ;85, in default one month's imprisonment. ' James Malin, a ship's steward, was charged with obstructing a member of the .'.military guard. The evidence snowed that ; defendant had a pass and endeavoured to ' get two returned soldiers past the guard. •When the guard objected defendant used' offensive language and struck at the ; sentry. Defendant was fined £5, in default one month's imprisonment,
