SOCIAL GATHERINGS.
WEST END PRIZE NIGHT. The annual prize night of the Wosi End Rowing Club was held on Saturday evening in All Saint's Hall, Ponsonbj. _ The. chairman, Mr. T. Peacock, in bis address, referred to the members of the club on active service, and to the illness of Archdeacon Calder, to whom a vote of condolence was extended. Songs were given by Misses Gwen D'Audney, Ivy Woods, and Messrs. A. Fogerty, and Wilfrid Manning. Mr. Alan McElwain contributed " Some Humour," and a dramatio recital was given by Miss Madge Stubbß. | Miss Hazel Rainey gave a piano solo, and. Mr. Alf. Blomfield a violin solo. A trio, cello, flute, and piano, was given by Miss M. Adams, and Messrs. M. Adams and Eric Baume. COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS' SOCIAL A social arranged by the Auckland Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen's Association was held in the Masonic Hall, Belgium Street, on Saturday. There was a large attendance of members .Jid.. ladies, and a most enjoyable evening was spent. Mr. W. Garrett, president of the'-/; association, was in the chair. Musical and vocal items were given by Misses 0..'.' Melvern, Leury, fchneideman, Mesdames Sharp, Ingram, and Messrs. A. McElwain. ; A. Ripley, F. Knight, M. Lewis, l'. Teat«, J. Deore, N. Forte, and the Lyrio ' Quartette. Mr. Cyril Towsoy was accompanist.
