TO-NIGHT'S HYPNOTIC DEMONSTRATION.

IN AID OF BED CROSS. SHOULD ATTRACT LARGE CROWD. Hypnotism is undoubtedly an attractive subject for the average person, and tha fact that Private Wilberforce Wilson makes his 61st appearance as a lecturer and demonstrator, proves that he has the » porter of attracting an audience. From the interest displayed, it seems probable j that the big chamber of the Town Hall will no more than spffice fcr the crowd which will gather. 'Ihe object of the meeting, which is to raise funds for the Red Cross, should insure a "bumper" house, but add to this an interesting subject and an attractive personality, and the success of the gathering should be assured. Therefore, all those who think of ' supporting this worthy cause should be early. That is always an advantage. To- ' night it may be absolutely necessary, in , order to obtain a good seat. As previously stated, the high repu« tation of Professor Wilson rests upon knowledge of his subject and an ability 1 to present it entertainingly to a large anAience at a public meeting. Private Wilson is at present on final leave, beforefr proceeding to the front, and many friends were desirous of seeing him on the plat. -V form. Telegrams ana letters asking fof ■ treatment were received from many centres, but time did not permit of taking : up this work. Therefore Private Wilson very generously to give a lecture and demonstration, provided that ' all the funds should go to the Red Cross. In addition, he offers, after the meeting this evening, to give advice free of charge. The lecturer is an enthusiast on the subject of curing nervous troubles by means of hypnotic suggestion, and hopes to. have the opportunity of doing good for . his fellow soldiers. He does not claim to cure organic troubles. But he shows that a patient can undergo a serious opera- v tion without the use of anesthetics, and 11 can have the nervous system restored after shell-shock and neurasthenia. In the case of operations, the after-shock is sometimes more dangerous than the wound or operation, but the hypnotic slefep does away with all shock. Iu many cases the bleeding can be promptly stopped by the 1 suggestion of the healer. In shell-shock medical aid has failed, and the spectacle of fine young fellows, helpless in hospitals or mental asylums, has moved Private Wilson to exert his utmost influence to have his powers put to full use. In Great Britain the B.M.A. has called in Mr. Erskine, who occupies a similar posij tion to that of Private Wilson. This gentleman is co-operating with the authorities, and his work has proved & • boon.

Very many homes, unfortunately, have the sorrow of seeing loved ones injured in their nervous system. To attend the lecture and follow the demonstrations carefully might give them ideas of great value. It is this aspect of the war which has led Private Wilson to give the lecture to-night. Many people possess the healing powers of hypnotic suggestion, and by attending such a lecture might be able to develop them for the benefit of suffering humanity, In every way the lecture is worth attending, and it is to be hoped the Red Cross will benefit to a large extent. The overture by the orchestra will he played under hypnotic suggestion, and from then on the entertainment will be given under the _ same conditions. A leading city dentist will assist in the dental opera* tions.
