AUCKLAND FRENCH CLUB.
The French national fete day, July 14, formed the basis of a pleasant soiree at the clubrooms on Monday evening. Among the guests welcomed by the French Consul, M. Hippeau, were the ConsulGeneral for the United States of America, Mr. A. A. Winslow; the Italian Consul, Mr. J. R. Pagni; and the American Vice-Con6ul-General, Mr. L. A. Bachelder. M. Hippeau delivered an address in keeping with the occasion. M. Francis, on behalf of the club, presented Mme. Hippeau with a bouquet. Enjoyable musical and elocutionary items were given by several members.
