BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY'S WORK.

A DEPUTATION from the Beautifying Society waited upon the Hamilton Borough Council at its meeting in reference to a letter from the Mayor in regard to attention to tho trees planted in the streets. A spirited discussion ensued, but it was stated that the council only desired that a portion of its contribution of £500, to which the Mayor had added his honorarium, should bo devoted to the care of the trees planted in the streets. The Department of Agriculture wrote stating that the terms and conditions on which the council proposed to delegate its powers to the Freezing Company wero being considered.
