MAP ILLUSTRATING LIKE OF NEW OFFENSIVE. The new German attack, on a front of from 60 to 65 miles, was launched on the line from Chateau Thierry, on the Marne, to Masaiges, in the Champagne, east of Rheims. The Germans penetrated south of Chateau Thierry, where the Americans met them in a spirited counter-attack. Dormans, the mo3t easterly point, where the enemy reached the river in the last attack, is described as having been'the scene of a bitter struggle.
