_♦ BELLS OF GERMAN CHURCH. MADE FROM FRENCH CANNON, i > [by telegraph.— Association.] k CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. . The German bells that have hung in the ; lower of the old German church at the • corner of Worcester and Montreal Streets 1 for many years will be taken down, hi . accordance with the instructions of the Acting-Prime Minister. They were obtained by Mr. Ruddenklau, formerly a prominent citizen, and at one time Mayor of Christchureh, who visited Germany ' about 40 years ago. A German churcn had been established in Christchureh, and the bells, cast from the metal of French cannon captured during the war of 1870, wer9 presented to the church by the Emperor William I, grandfather of the present Kaiser.
