A Russian tolegram states that a number of men disguised as Red Guards assisted the Grand Duke Michael to esoape. The bogus Red Guards showed the Governor a written order from the Soviet, which stated that it was necessary to take the Grand Duke from Perm owing to tho danger of an attack upon him. Passengers from England at an Atlantic port report that the Brit steamer Orissa was attacked by submarines off the coast of Scotland. . The submarine appeared in tho middle of a convoy of merchantmen. AMERICAN TRANSPORT LOST FORMER GERMAN n LINER. WASHINGTON. July 5. The American transport Covington homeward bound, was torpedoed and sunk in European waters. Six of the crew are missing. There wee no troops on board. The survivors landed at a French port. The Covington was formerly the Cincinatti, of the Hamburg-American Line. The Covington was ft steel twin screw steamer of 16,339 tons gross, built at Danzig in 1908. Tho Orissa is a steel screw steamer of 5436 tons, gross, built in Sunderland in 1897 and owned by the British India Steam Navigation Company. MUNITION WORKERS' STRIKE MAKERS OF AEROPLANES. A. and N.Z.Router. LONDON, July 5. The Press Bureau reports that a dispute regarding the dismissal of workmen at an aeroplane factory in London resulted in the cessation of "work. The workers' committee agreed to resume on Thursday, but the non-official body of workmen repudiated the recommendation. Other factories also ceased work. The Minister for Munitions announces that unless the work be resumed action will be taken under the Defence of the Realm Act,
