<$> _—~ POOR RESPONSE TO APPEAL. The total amount received in subscriptions by the Wimmera Relief Fund Committee is £113') 15s 6d. , This sum includes the donation of £1000 by the Huddart-Parker Company, owners of the wrecked vessel. The Deputy-Mayor, Mr. A. J. Entrican, who presided at a meeting of the committee yesterday, >'said he was disappointed at the poor, response made by the public to the appeal. Theamount contributed had not Iven suflicient to relieve the actual distress. The committee had had the right to expect that the public would make a more genermis response. A resolution in ■ terms of Mr. Entricnn's remarks was passed. A resolution expressing the sympathy of , the citizens with the relatives-of the missing was also passed. .■ ••..•' In order to prevent overlapping,- it was resolved to inform the Shipwreck Relief Society in New South Wales of what had been done by the Auckland committee and the society in New Zealand to assist the survivors. . Some went on in the Manuka to Sydney, where the majority have their homes. *
