Mr. George S. Hill, formerly of Auckland, lias died at New Plymouth. He was one of the founders of the Feilding Druids' Lodge, and an ex-president of the Friendly Societies' Council of New Zealand.
Mr. Ernest Lilly, chairman of (he City Schools Committee, has been confined to his home for more than a week by an attack of rheumatism, and does not expect to be about for some days to come.
Mr. T. B. Strong, the senior inspector for the Wanganui Education District, has been nominated by the Government for the position of representative of the inspectorate on the Council of Education.
Mr. Daniel McDuff Boyd, who soma years ago was well known throughout the Dominion as a violinist, died at Hastings last week. Mr. Boyd, who was in his 60la year, arrived in New Zealand About 43 years ago.
The Rev. Trevor V. Gilfillan, who. for the past three years, has been acting as mission priest for the Auckland Anglican Diccese, has left for Trentharn, to take up the duties of assistant-chaplain. Mr. Gilfillan will later leave with a reinforcement as chaplain to the forces.
