NEW PLYMOUTH. Monday. Renewed interest has been given to petroleum prospecting by the fact that a large blow-out occurred at the Blenheim bore at 1 a.m., and continued for five hours, proving that the drill has not yet reached the main source of oil, and' confirming geologists' opinions that the source is over 5000 ft down. The Blenheim bore is now down 5200 ft. When the blow-out was exhausted drilling was resumed, and an important early development is hoped for.
