The Admiralty reports: Between May 6 and 11 aircraft from Dunkirk successfully bombed th© docks and seaplane base at Ostend and also Zeebrugge mole, lock gates, and shipping. Several direct hits were secured on the sheds on the Zeebrugge mole. A large shed at Ostend was completely burned. We destroyed six machines and drove two others down during patrol encounters. One British machine is missing. A seaplane on Friday over the North Sea engaged a Zeppelin, which retreated after half-an-hour. Sir Douglas Haig's aviation report states: Flying was impossible on Sunday until the evening, when the visibility was excellent. We dropped eight tons of bombs in the neighbourhood of Menin, Armentieres, and La Bassee, and also on the Bruges docks. We brought down six enemy machines. One British . machine is missing. Our nightfliers dropped 14 tons at night on Douai, Marcoing, and Chaulnes rail- _ way stations, the Bruges docks, and Bapaume and Peronne. One British machine did not return.
