DEVONPCRT BOROUGH.
Tee fortnightly meeting of the Davenport Borough Council was held last evening, the Deputy-Mayor, Mr. J. A. Walker, presiding. A request from the North Devonport Batepayers and Residents' Association : that si footpath be formed at the western end of Old Lake Road, was ordered to be referred to the Takapuna Council, this portion of tho road being in Takapuna Borough. The Works Committee' was empowered to have a shed erected at the. refuse manipulator yard in' which the refuse should be deposited on arrival, to present an unpleasant odour emanating. Authority to expend the Government grant of £100 for deviating the road up Mount Victoria was received. It was explained that the present route intersected the technical school, 'site, at the- foot, of v the hOl .and the site could. not be fenced in.. Instruc>ior.a were given that "the forming" of the deviation should be carried cut forthwith, provided the total cost would not exceed £100. The town clerk was instructed to notify all athletic sports clubs using the Devonport Domain that as the council had b»*>n recently reappointed the Devonport Domain Board, it would be necessary for them to apply for fresh tenures of their playing grounds. It was decided to send a letter to the Hon. E W Alison, formerly Mayor of Devonport, congratulating him on . his appointment to the legislative Council. A recommendation of. the Works Committer that the attention of the Takapuna-Coun-cil be again drawn to the dangerous state of the roadway leading to the cemetery at O'Neill's Point, was adopted.
