THE GREY BY-ELECTION.
MAY 29 FIXED AS POLLING DAY. [BY TELEGBAPH.— ASSOCIATION.] GREYMOUTH, Saturday. The writ for the -Grey by-election was issued yesterday. The election takes place on May 29. There was disappointment in both election camps in that the registrar of electors did not receive an official telegram notifying that the writ had been issued yesterday until after six o'clock last night. A number of claims for enrolment were thus shut out, an the organisers relied on the customary notification being received early to-day, and there being a notice of the final hours for closing the roll. The official telegram was put in at Wellington at 2 p.m., but did not reach Greymouth until after 6 p.m., and it was near 7 p.m. before it was in the hands of the registrar.
