MILKING SHORTHORNS.
Volume three of the Milking Shorthorn Herd Book is now in course of preparation, and entries for non-pedigree female stock for inclusion therein will be received up till June 30. This volume will show how the milking Shorthorn hag gained in popularity with dairymen and breeders. The breed, it is claimed, has proved itself to be as near the utility type as it is possible to get. The milk yield of the Shorthorn is rich in, butter-fat and the young stock always bring top prices as weaners and onwards. At a recent Levin stock sale a pen of Shorthorn wearier steers sold fit £8 14s when other weaners could not fee quitted at all.
