COLLEGE RIFLES CLUE The re-entry of the Collece Rifles Football Club into the ranks of Rujbv, after a long absence, recalls memories of old football days in Auckland. The club, composed of old Grammar kings and other college old boys, in the past sent mai;y zood Wains to the fore, and often was hieh up tne championship ladder. With die advent of war the members of the club mostly left to "d;> their bit.'' and the football was discontinued. This year, however, as several members have returned from the iron-, and younger members have come forward to fill the hitherto vacant places, the club hat, entered a senior toam in the Rugby Union' championship competition. The captains of Auckland primary schools foe -ball teams met in the Normal Schooi las evening the president of the Referees' Association, Mr. A. Wetherilt, presiding. The president gave full instructions regarding the amended rules of the Rugby Union. Much interest was evinced by the boys. UNDER LEAGUE RULES. THAMES OLD BOYS. A practice match of the Thames Old Boys' Club will be held to-day at the Domain. Members and intending members arc cordially invited. THE ASSOCIATION GAME. MATpH AT NORTH SHORE. A match will bo played at North Shore today between a team from an overseas steamer and the Y.M.C.A. senior grade team. Y.M.C.A. BOYS' LEAGUE. A rally of Association players was held in the Y.M.C.A. lounge last evening, Mr. H. D. Fountain presiding over an attendance of about 170. An outline of the work of the Y.M.C.A. Boys' League was given by Mr B. A. Mabin, boys' director. Messrs. McMillan and Marsh gave an interesting review of the rules and principles of the Association game. ' A musical programme was submitted. The league has entered 28 teams in the seven a-side tourney, to be held in the Domain this afternoon. The third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades will be represented.
