DISCUSSION IN COMMITTEE. / • i ( SERVICES OF. DOCTORS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. April 13. The provisions of the Man-power Bill continued to by keenly discussed yesterday. Practically all members went to tho division. An amendment, exempting doctors over SO years of ago was defeated, as also was an amendment rendering the clergy liable to combatant eervioe. The first clauso was then carried, but Sir George Cavo suggested that the question of combatant service by tho clergy should bo discussed later. Mr. H. J. Tennant moved an amendment deleting the power to call up men between tho ages of 50 and (50 years of ago as interfering with the business of the country. Sir Gcorgo Cave said the Government desired power to take - these men in the event of an extremo national emergency. Parliament would be again consulted before the power was enforced. The amend' ment was negatived by 201 votes to 04.
