SOLDIERS' GIFT CAMPAIGN.

TOTAL TO DATE, £9904. As a result of the efforts of the first | week's campaign, for the raising of £25,000 I for the Soldiers' Gift Fund, and in aid of I regimental funds, nearly £10,000 has been received in direct promises or subscriptions. The promise cards, distributed earlier in the week, are now being returned in increasing numbers, and it is also becoming more apparent that the public are realising that this appeal is one in which everybody should help. The committee points out that if each family in the city and suburbs undertook to supply one half-crown parcel a month, the amount necessary to ■ continue the gift scheme would be raised without any difficulty.
