The annual report states that many of v* the league's best players have been lgst bi owing to the war. _ The executive, after conferring with lie military, authorities, decided to continue Northern Union football, thereby making a greater number of possible recruits fit and strong. Last season was most successful, the attendances at the various ' matches in Victoria Park averaging over 4000. During the season an application was received from the Railway playing the Rugby game— affiliation, and also requesting permission to play in the Rome's Booster competition. The rule; governing 'that trophy, however, would not permit of the railway men playing, and their change to league rules was not mid» until the termination of the competition. In the meantime the petitioning club won the Rugby Union senior championship. Affiliation was subsequently panted. Three junior teams 'joined the league at the same time.
