POLICE COURT NEWS.
SHORT LIST OF CASKS. A short sitting of the Police Court was held yesterday, Mr. F. V. Frazcr, S.M., presiding. For failing to render service, as required by the Defence Act, a youth, Joseph Morley, was fined £5 and costs. It was stated that the defendant had failed to attend 29 consecutive parades. Charles Petersen was fined 5s and ordered to pay costs, amounting to 7s, for driving a gig in Karangahape Road without sufficient lights, while a similar Senally was imposed on each of two [indnos, Kasen Drangi and Kangi Kehel, for driving carts without having the names and addresses of the owners displayed in a legible and permanent manner. In a case in which a third Hindoo, Nathe Gosai, was charged with a like offence, it was shown that the defendant had made some effort to comply with the law, and he was only convicted and, ordered to pay costs. R. A. Singer was ordered to pay the costs of a charge of having left a motor-car unattended in Queen Street for more than 15 minutes, and a Chinaman, Ah Fook, was similarly dealt with for cutting the corners of Queen and Wcllesley Streets with his horso and cart.
