INDUSTRIAL CONFERENCE.
REMITS FROM AUCKLAND. The annual conference of the industrial associations of New Zoaland, incorporated into the New Zealand Industrial Corporation, will be held at Wellington on Wednesday next. At a meeting of tho Executive Committee of the Auckland Association, held yesterday, Messrs. S. J. Uarbutt, president. T. E. Whilton, secretary, L. Joll, and 11. Dearsley were appointed delegates to the conference, The following subjects, proposed for consideration at the conference by Auckland members, havo been accepted as remits by the executivel. Hydo-eloctric power; need for . combined effort. 2. (a) the further development of industrial associations throughout the Dominion; (d) that the industrial unions of employers be urged to affiliate with tho local industrial associations.' 3. Shortage of timber. 4. Organisation for scientific tariff reform. 5. Technical education. 6. (a) Concentration and specialisation in manufacturing; (b) the desirability of the Government fostering and encouraging secondary industries in a similar manner as the Government aids primary industries. 7. That an appeal be made to the Government for a subsidy on the production of fuel alcohol in suitable quantities.
