HORSE DRIVERS FIXED, [nv TELECIIAPn.—PIIK?S ASSOCIATION.) PALMERSTON NORTH, Wednesday. Ax unusual charge was heard at (lis Magistrate's Court, beforo Mr. L. (». Reid, S.M., to-day, when Demand dooker was charged with committing a breach of the Palmerston North Drivers' Award by leaving fho employment of H. F. Flygcr without giving a week's notice. Mr. H. J. Torbit, inspector of awards, said that defendant, who had been in charge of a team of horses, had left without giving any notice, the first intimation that tho employer received being a telegram from defendant from Napier, stating that ho was on holiday, and would not be back. Defendant was convicted and ordered to pay £3. A similar chargo was made- against \V, J. Hall, who failed to appear. Defendant was convicted and ordered to pay a penalty of '£5. Mr. Torbit drew 'tin Court's attention to the fact that drivers had recently made a practice of leaving their employment without notice, causing great inconvenience- to employers, as competent drivers were not easily procurable*'
