EMPIRE LODE AT No. • 10 LEVEL, Followino is a copy of a cablegram forwarded yesterday to tiro London office o! the Waihi Gold Mining Company by the mint superintendent:—No. 10 level: At 250 ft in the south-east crosscut from the south wall of (ho Martha lode, 160 ft oast of the No. I shaft, north-west crosscut, the north section of the Empire lode has been intersected. The first sft assays 17s 4d per ton; the next 6ft is country: the next Oft assays £2 20s 3d per ton; and tho next 20ft assays £1 Is Gd per ton.

MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Sylvia Reefs, Ltd, North of the main crosscut the drive on the reef has been advanced 4(t, and several sols of timber put in position. The crosscut in the footwail has been advanced Sit in good country. In tho south end two stopea are going on tlio main reel, and two on the bangingwall reef. On the latter the reef is small, but well mineralised. Golden Bolt: The south tare of No. 1 level has been extended 12ft. The country is well mineralised, and there are some nice ouartz stringers in the face. 'Driving in the hangingwall portion of the lodo bus been commenced. Waiotahi: Stoping on the leader from the surface level is being continued. During the week good dabs of gold have been teen, and a few pounds of picked stone secured. Crown Mines. Karangahake: During February the old crosscut at No. 4 Talisman level was cleared out for 367 ft, and a start •was mado to continue the crosscut castwards into the Crown Company's property. Two shifts of men are engaged in the work. The tributers crushed 41 tons of ore from the Hauraki Block, and 71 toim from tho Rhoderick Dhu reef, from which tho company received royalties totalling £26 13s Id. A Riiinnle crushing of 21 tons from the Dubbo reel, _in the south end of the property, which reef it is hoped to also intersect in the new crosscut, gave an assay value of £2 0s 8d per ton. The width of the reef is about 4ft. Arrangements are being made to further test this reef.
