THE TAKAPUMA MEETING. Eveiiythixg promises well for the successful inauguration of the Takapuna Jockey Club's Summer Meeting at Devonport to-morrow. With fine weather well assured, the official opening of the new racecourse at the North Shore will bo celebrated under conditions in keeping with the season, and the function will thus havo a proper and pleasing distinction. The problem attaching to the Takapund Cup is viewed -with especial interest, and, with 14 horses still engaged and the. issuo on all hands voted decidedly open, it seems safe to offer the prediction that, from a speculative point of view, a fresh record for the North Shore ground will be entered up.
