MANUKAU WATER BOARD.
CITY CONTROLS AFFAIRS. BALANCE-SHEET RENDERED. In connection with the Mamikau Water Supply Board, which, in accordance with agreement with the City Council, was dissolved on November 30 last, a balancesheet has been submitted to the council, showing the position of the board. Reporting thereon to tho council at its meeting last evening, the Mayor,' Mr. J. H. Gunson, said the position disclosed was satisfactory. The cash balances in hand. £384 Is 4d, had been paid into the joint account of the Mayor of Auckland and the chairman of the 'One-tree Hill Road Board. The outstanding rates and meter rents due to the board totalled £2846 17s lid. of which £1416 18s 4d was owing bv ratepayers of the Epsom district and £1429 19s 7d by ratepayers of the One-tree Hill district. There, was also a small sum due from both the council and the road board for sundry assets which had been taken over. The council's amount has been paid in. There wore remaining assets which had not yet been disposed of. • The on'y accounts owing by the Water Simply Board, other than interest on loan debt, were due to the council, namelv, £985 2s for water and £653 12s 2d for meters. The city treasurer was communicating with the secretary to the Government Treasury with a view of having the loan liability apportioned in terms of the agreement. The position in connection with the account, and matters generally arising out of the recent dissolution of the Water Supply Board, required no further attention on the part of the council at present, said the Mayor.
