AIRMAN BOMBS ESSEN.

A. and N.Z. PARIS, Oct, 17. A French aviator named Jardin, participating in a raid on Frankfort, proceeded to Essen on his own initiative. He dropped 10 bombs. He landed in Switzerland during a mist and was interned.

A member of a French raiding party succeeded in reaching and bombing Essen early in July. The official report describing the feat stated: During the night of July 6-7 our bombarding aeroplanes carried out a particularly brilliant series of aerial expeditions. Eighty-four machines took the air in the course of these operations. The following fire the details. Between 12.15 a.m. and 1.10 a.in', eleven of our aeroplanes flew over Treves, on which they rained over 2£ tons of shells. About the same time, six machines bombarded Ludwigshafen, causing great damage.
