NOTES AMD COMMENTS. The match last Saturday between the local representatives and a representative team bo. lectcd from the various military camps, played under the control of the Auckland Rugby League, provided a fast . and interesting game. The attendance, possibly on account of the lateness of the Reason, was not as large as usual, hut thoso who were at tho fmain witnessed an excellent contest. The icceds from tho match are to bo devoted the Red Cross Fund. Auckland was fortunate in securing a lend during tlio first spell, as in tho second half the visitors had the advantage, and scored more than their opponents. In tho first: spell the local team played well, showing plenty of dash and matin? tho most of their opportunities. The backs at times were seen to advantage in some Rood passing rushes, aud generally combined well. Tho latter spell marked by fast play, and tho strong efforts of both teams. The soldiers were playing well, but were unfortunate in having to face the sun, which considerably affected the play. The final scores are a fair criterion of the play, for although the play was even, th» local team undoub- j tedly deserved to win.
