WOMAN SPY SHOT.

BEAUTIFUL DUTCH DANCER SECRET OF TANKS BETRAYED (Received 8 p.m.) United Service. PARIS, Oct. 15. The beautiful Dutch dancer, Mdlle. Matahiri, was shot this morning for espionage. She betrayed the secret of the tanks to Germany prior to the Sommo battle. While fulfilling a dancing engagement in Paris the fascinated an English officer, who was wearing the dragon badge of the Tanks Corps. They were frequently seen together in cafe;*. In May, 1916, she applied for a permit to visit a certain pert, stating that her fiance, a British officer, had been wounded, and she wished to marry him before he died. She arrived simultaneously with the first consignment of tanks from England. She stayed a week, having the free "tin of the port. A month later she returned to Paris and obtained a passport for San Sebastian in Spain. Here she was seen in the company of a suspected German agent. During the Somme offensive the tanks were opposed by a new German gun expressly made for service against tanks. German prisoners admitted that the secret of the tanks was betrayed. She admitted receiving large sums of money since last year for information supplied to leading German spies.
